The Headlines

Last week had a variety of peaks and valleys. So here's the rundown of headlines in my life and a short explanation.

Blizzard '07 - We had nearly 14 inches of snow and stayed home from work for two days. It was treacherous outside but great to have some time together at home. Here is a picture of our mailbox to show how high the drifts were.

WrestleMania - John worked two 16-hour days of high school wrestling.

Spa-tacular - I enjoyed a mid-day spa getaway for a great friend's bachelorette gathering. About halfway through my facial, I thought to myself that all women should have a full spa day three months postpartum. I had a pedicure (first ever), manicure, facial, 15 minute massage and a wash and blowdry. John's mom was nice enough to come to town to babysit the little man so I could enjoy this little getaway.

Hairy Situation - I'm still adjusting to my haircut. I like the ease that it offers but I don't feel "pretty." I'm missing some aspect of femininity. This is not the greatest picture taken at arms length but you get the jist.

Tradition Lost - On Friday, the University of Illinois announced that they will be retiring Chief Illiniwek on Wednesday night at the last Illini basketball game this season. As I continue to think about my disappointment with this decision I plan to post a full entry about it.

  • Thanks for the post - great update! Your hair is so cute, I love it! And, how about that pedicure?! I could go for the rest of my life without a manicure - pedicures are so much more fun! Now you're going to have spring fever and want to wear flip-flops around the house! :)

  • Ryan told me to tell you that John needs to get out the shovel-it's gotta be heck for the mailman to get to your mailbox ;) As the daughter of a postal service employee, you surely can enjoy his twisted sense of humor.

I love the hair and am glad that you enjoyed the spa!

  • Love the haircut and personally I think it is pretty and feminine. Jeff LOVES short hair. One time when I got it cut short and he was so thrilled that he called me at work the next day and told me it was all my fault that he didn't get a bit of sleep the night before because he stayed awake all night looking at me and petting my hair while I slept. And all I can say about your blizzard is yeah for snow days and yuck to that much snow. I am so ready for spring, but it's been in the 40's this week so we are losing a lot of snow cover. Probably just in time for the next batch this weekend.
