Life's stepping stones

I felt the earth move...

under my feet. We were awakened at about 4:40 a.m. to our house rattling. At first, I thought it was the cat messing around, then I thought it was the wind, and finally I realized it was sustained. I asked my husband what was going on (not that I didn't have a clue) and he responded that he thought it was an earthquake. Indeed it was. We stayed awake a bit longer to learn that a 5.4 earthquake had it's epicenter located a little over 100 miles south of our house.

It really was a bit of a surreal experience, thinking you know what's going on but trying to determine what you should do and before you can think, it's over.

  • Something funny -- my mom felt the aftershocks. She woke up and thought it was my dad shaking the bed -- having a stroke or something -- he slept thru the whole thing (too busy snoring)...and then she heard on the news the next day that it was an earthquake and she was like "praise god!" LOL! Glad you're all okay!
