Perhaps Halloween first?

This morning I saw a vehicle with a Christmas wreath attached to its front grill. I think this is a bit premature. Yes, I have started my Christmas shopping because I found things and I like deals. I also want to be a little ahead when I have a baby. Yes, many of the retailers have Christmas merchandise out. Farm and Fleet opens Toyland this Saturday. They'll be playing Deck the Halls by next week. However, I am not stringing up the lights or dragging out my tree yet.

As individuals, can't we have Halloween first? Then, if people want to turn to Christmas celebrations, go right ahead. Maybe if we remembered what Christmas is really about we would actually value the appropriate time to turn to Christmas preparations.

Besides, that person's wreath is going to be dried and crusty by Christmas. Where did they get that anyways?

  • I totally agree. Let the pumpkin faces sink in and get set out in the compost before you put the wreath out! Although, I must confess, today I did jokingly ask if it was too early to listen to Christmas music! It will be here before we know it!

  • Maybe it's last season's wreath? You know those folks with the holidays in their hearts all year long, LOL. I agree it's too soon, but it's fun to see the Halloween decorations up all over the city. Last night drove through Milwaukee after dark and so many homes have orange lights and fall decorations up. 'Tis the season for ghosts and goblins, pumpkins and corn stalks. And really cute little trick or treaters. Jeff loves to dress up and pass candy. Last year, he donned all his mountain climbing gear and hitched a rope to the chimney so he could lower himself down the driveway to reach the kids who couldn't make the steep climb. I think he has more fun than the kids who come to the house. Can't wait to see what he does this year.
P.S. hope your little furball is ok too.
