The cream and the path
I attended a pile of goal setting workshops in my youth. By the time I was in college, I probably could have conducted a workshop myself. However, lately, I've found myself wondering if it's time to dig through some boxes and unearth those old workshop workbooks that I likely still have somewhere. (if they didn't get tossed when my parents moved) It seems I've forgotten how to set and work towards goals.
I certainly have goals, and JT and I have goals as a couple, for ourselves and our family. However, lately, it's been difficult to determine the priorities of those goals and the steps to take to make them happen. I can't quite figure out how to get the cream to rise to the top - how to make the things that I really want and need in life happen, while not being distracted by some of the other smaller things that I want.
I spent some time a few weeks ago writing down some of my goals, as this is a practice that my friend NM does on an annual basis. She prioritizes short term and long term goals and works towards them in the given time period. I admire her and her husband for being so diligent about this process and doing what they need to in order to meet their goals.
However, I'm still aloof to the next step of prioritizing and getting on a path towards the goals that really matter. I certainly know that God will guide me on the path that I need to be on but I also know that there are some things that I have to do to get on that path and moving in the direction that I want my life to go.
The last thing I want is to be 40 and looking around wondering how I got to where I am in life. That means that it's time NOW for me to start prioritizing and working towards what I really want.

"...moving in the direction that I want my life to go"
Maybe you are fighting the direction God wants your life to go? Maybe that is why you feel your wheels spinning??? Just a thought.
Wishing you all the best, my friend! Goals are good, but an open mind and an adventuresome spirit are even better! (Trust me, I need to do more of this!) Don't box yourself in or weigh yourself down with worry. I admire all you have accomplished and I think things will fall into place for you guys soon.
Cheers to the future!
