Mommy Memory Lapse

I believe I may be experiencing a temporary loss of memory about the first few weeks with a newborn at home. Perhaps it was the heavy-duty pain relievers that I was on, or having John at home, or simply adjusting (and giving myself more time to do so) that makes me not recall the first few weeks at home with Jeremiah as challenging as the first few weeks have been with Andrew.

Admittedly, I knew that trying to keep up with a 3-year-old at the same time would be a challenge, but honestly that's not been the hard part. I'm not adjusting well to the number of times Andrew is up at night or the amount of moments that he is uncomfortable and inconsolable throughout the day. I feel bad for him and me.

Don't get me wrong, he's a wonderful blessing in our lives, but I think I may be more prepared for him to a get a little older and get on to a bit of a schedule. At least I'm hoping that is coming our way. Perhaps that is what I remember about my time with Jeremiah because that's what I want to remember!

  • 5 weeks! After that I have loved being a mommy, but the first 5 weeks...make me feel horrible every time I think about them! You are an amazing mommy and I can't wait to see you and your little brood very soon!

  • Just for fun I re-read some of my posts from June 07, and man, I was in a DARK place. Sleep deprivation is a POW tactic you know (no joke). It will mess with your head. This will pass, you will get thru this!
