No, I'm not a Ph.D.!
A small rant for this morning! Some days I truly enjoy working in academia (i.e.- the way things really quiet down near the holiday and over the summer; a boss who is wonderful; and some gratification when a contribution comes through) and then there are days that I despise being treated like I know nothing because I don't have a Ph.D.
There are some people that, like the gentleman I met with this morning, act like I'm a complete moron. I do have a purpose and I do play a valuable role here. Maybe I don't have enough letters behind my name but that doesn't mean I'm less professional or just here to take up space. This department would not run on faculty alone!
God bless the people that appreciate what the non-Ph.D. staff bring to the University setting and pooh to the others that think we're inferior!

Typically, I've found that the more they boast, the less they know. So, I must be a genius, because I don't boast!
Have a good day!

My dad has felt that pain for more than 30 years at the u. It's really sad. The military is the same way. If we had all of our titles and clothes and material things stripped away, we'd all be human in the end. In my book, it's the warmth of your heart that makes you an amazing person. You could have alphabet soup after your name and I wouldn't think any more or less of you. :) Don't let those nimrods get you down! :)
